COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel will ring the victory bell at Ohio Stadium prior to Saturday’s game against Rutgers.
He’ll be the seventh and final victory bell ringer of the season, joining Archie Griffin, John Cooper, Clark Kellogg, Michael Redd, Urban Meyer and Jerry Lucas as the honorees in the first year of the tradition.
Tressel coached at Ohio State from 2001-10. In his second season with the team, he led the Buckeyes to their seventh national title in program history.
The Ohio native went 106–23 in his time at Ohio State, which includes 12 vacated wins from the 2010 season. He is currently serving as the 67th lieutenant governor of Ohio — a role he has held since February.
