The One Show star Alex Jones has confessed that she "struggled to speak" as a child due to her shyness. Despite interviewing some of the biggest names in showbusiness, the 48-year-old presenter admits she was an "introvert" during her school years.

The Welsh television star first dipped her toes into the world of TV while still a student, juggling her final university exams with appearances on Sky One's reality TV show Prickly Heat in Magaluf. However, Alex, who hails from Carmarthenshire, confesses that her natural disposition is introverted and she battled with shyness at school.

During an interview with former Made in Chelsea star-turned Radio One host Jaime Laing on the Great Company podcast, when asked about her childhood, Alex responded : "I was incredibly shy.
