Ja’Marr Chase’s appeal of his one-game suspension was denied.

Appeals officer Jordy Nelson upheld the Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver’s suspension on Tuesday night. Chase will miss Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots .

The Bengals go into Week 12 having lost their last three games and go up against a Patriots team that has won eight straight. Cincinnati also remains without quarterback Joe Burrow , though he’s hopeful to return by Thanksgiving.

The NFL suspended Chase one game without pay for “unsportsmanlike conduct” stemming from when he spit on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey .

By spitting on Rasmey, Chase violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to “any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanshi
