Amazon is giving customers extra peace of mind for the 2025 holiday season by extending its return window for most items.
The new policy covers purchases made between Saturday, Nov. 1 and Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025. These items can now be returned through Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026.
The change means shoppers have more time to return gifts that miss the mark, do not fit, or simply do not meet expectations.
Most Apple-branded products are an exception. They must be sent back by Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, to be eligible for a refund or replacement.
Amazon says, “Easy shopping, simple returns — that's our promise. At Amazon, we're committed to making your shopping experience as seamless and worry-free as possible.
"We understand that there may be times when a purchase may not meet your expectations or your needs might change. When that happens, we make completing a return simple and convenient.”
Typically, most Amazon items can be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are in original or unused condition. For the holiday season, though, the extended window gives shoppers nearly an extra month to make returns on eligible items.
Refunds are processed after Amazon or the third-party seller receives the return and confirms eligibility. Processing can take up to 30 days, and timelines vary based on the original payment method. For example, Amazon.com gift card refunds may process in two to three hours, while debit card refunds may take up to 10 business days.
Some items are not eligible for return, including perishables, customized products, certain digital items, and products marked as “Final Sale.”
If a non-returnable item arrives damaged or is not as described, Amazon encourages customers to contact Customer Service for help.
To start a return, customers can visit their Order History, select the item, and choose the “Return Items” option.
