The Government of Saskatchewan has now contracted 19 nurse practitioners across the province to expand access to publicly funded primary care services. This is part of an initiative developed in partnership with the Saskatchewan Association of Nurse Practitioners (SANP) aiming to ensure that everyone in Saskatchewan has access to a primary health care provider by the end of 2028.
Contracts have been signed in larger centres including Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert. In the southeast, one contract was signed in Carnduff and two in Estevan.
Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill explains this was an application-based setup, and no applications were received from Weyburn in the first round. There will be more contracts signed in the coming months. The initiative initially included only six
