GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County Public Schools announced a new zoning initiative for the 2026-27 school year.
District officials outlined the “Our Schools — Future Ready” initiative in a school board workshop Wednesday, which they say will address issues including enrollment, school capacity, transportation and educational programs.
They say they expect the plan to be finalized in March, which will include short-term strategies to be implemented by the start of the next school year and a long-term roadmap.
