CHESAPEAKE, VA — A routine traffic stop in Chesapeake turned into a major drug and firearms bust earlier this month after officers pulled over a vehicle with inactive plates and discovered narcotics, weapons, and cash following a K-9 alert.
On October 1, Chesapeake Police officers stopped a vehicle in the 2600 block of South Military Highway. Observing suspicious behavior from the driver, officers requested a K-9 unit. The police dog, K-9 Riggs, alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, prompting a probable cause search.
