The UK's most and least affordable towns to buy a home this year have now been revealed. Property website Zoopla has analysed house prices up and down the country to find the areas where homes sell for bargain prices, as well as those where houses are priced well above the average.
A town in County Durham has been named as Britain's most affordable location for working families to purchase a home in 2025. Zoopla revealed that average house prices in Shildon are around the same as a year’s typical household earnings for a two-income household.
Renowned for its rich railway history, Shildon has the Locomotion museum and enjoys proximity to Darlington, Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle. Prospective buyers in the town can generally expect to pay as little as £73,900 for
