Former deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland has been appointed the next Warden of Rhodes House and CEO of the Rhodes Trust, the organisation announced Thursday. She will begin the role on July 1, 2026, succeeding Professor Sir Rick Trainor, who has served as interim head since the start of 2025.
The Rhodes Trust, founded in 1902, administers the Rhodes Scholarship, a global academic award that supports postgraduate study at the University of Oxford.
