Concerns over election transparency, staffing decisions and financial oversight at the South Winnipeg Community Centre (SWCC) intensified this week after Monday’s annual general meeting, where several key issues raised in earlier complaints were confirmed publicly by candidates and community members. The General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres (GCWCC), however, maintains that recent criticism is unfounded and that standard procedures were followed.
Roughly 50 residents attended the AGM — a steep decline from the more than 600 people who took part in last year’s meeting. Several former candidates reiterated long-standing requests for the release of the 2024 board election tallies, which have still not been made public.
