The Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada (JHCWC) says it is suspending its partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights after learning the museum is preparing an exhibition titled Palestine Uprooted: The Nakba Past and Present. The centre says it was not consulted on the project and believes the exhibit risks presenting an incomplete or unbalanced account of the history surrounding Israel and the Palestinian refugee crisis.
In a statement released this week, the JHCWC said it is “tremendously concerned” the exhibit may exclude essential historical context, including the long history of Jewish displacement, events leading up to Israel’s 1948 War of Independence, and the expulsion of Jews from Arab countries in the mid-20th century.
