JACKSON, MI – Filling out an application for federal student aid may soon be a graduation requirement for Jackson High School’s class of 2026 and onward.

The Jackson Public School Board discussed the addition to its graduation requirements at its monthly board meeting Nov. 18.

If approved, the school district would provide students and their families with notice of what the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA , is and a description of the process, benefits and requirements of completing the FAFSA.

Starting with class of 2026, graduating seniors would be required to fill out a FAFSA application, or sign a waiver stating they have been told about FAFSA and are declining to complete the application.
