LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

GE Appliances has awarded more than $150 million in new contracts to U.S.-based suppliers to support production in Louisville.

It is part of the company's plan to bring in more jobs and production from overseas and expand American manufacturing.

Earlier this year, the company announced it was investing $490 million into its global corporate headquarters at Appliance Park in Buechel. It is building a new washer and combo washer/dryer plant there.

And they need suppliers for the steel, resins, parts, and components.

GE Appliances says they've awarded contracts to suppliers across 10 states, including Kentucky and Indiana.
