BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Thanksgiving isn’t even here yet, and the city of Bangor is already getting into the Christmas spirit.

Thursday morning saw the annual delivery of the downtown tree.

The 40-foot blue spruce will sit in the heart of the city throughout the holiday season.

For more than 30 years, Dan Sprague has been the man helping to ring in the season.

“I’ve come down to the parade the last few years, and people really enjoy it. I’ve lived in Bangor my whole life and was the co-owner of Sprague’s Nursery, and the city of Bangor has done well by me. The least I can do is give something back to the town,” Sprague said.

Brewer resident Mary Martin donated this year’s tree in memory of her mother.
