BANGOR, Maine — Bangor marked the start of the holiday season on Thursday as crews installed a 38-foot spruce in West Market Square.
The tree came from North Main Street in Brewer and was donated by the Martin family, the city said on social media.
Public works crews handled the installation with help from forestry, electrical, and carpentry staff. The tree was sourced with help from Dan Sprague, who has worked for decades with the city and the Downtown Bangor Partnership to coordinate annual tree donations.
Decorations and lights are being managed by the Downtown Bangor Partnership, and Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway Bangor has funded the light display in recent years.
A lighting ceremony is scheduled for next Friday, Nov. 28 the day after Thanksgiving, as part of the Downtown Bango
