A man wanted in a brutal Maryland stabbing was arrested in Florida weeks after the attack, and investigators say he is now back to face serious charges, officials say.
Deputies said Delonta Darius Robertson, 21, fled the state after a violent fight inside a home in the 21000 block of Essex Drive on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Lexington Park.
A man was found at the scene suffering multiple stab wounds to the torso. The victim was flown to a trauma center and survived, Lexington Park, September 27, evening, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators said the stabbing followed “an ongoing dispute throughout the day” between Robertson and the victim.
The knife used in the attack was recovered at the scene, and deputies stressed the incident was isolated and not a threat to the wider community.
A warrant was issued charging Robertson with:
- Attempted second-degree murder;
- First-degree assault;
- Second-degree assault.
Sheriff’s officials said Robertson was located in Florida and arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 19 and extraditing back to St. Mary's County.
He's being held at the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown pending a bond hearing.
The stabbing remains under investigation.
