CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Local leader began to react shortly after news broke Thursday that Border Patrol agents participating in the “Charlotte’s Web” immigration operation were leaving.
Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles was one of the first to release a following news of the federal agents’ departure.
Lyles said in the statement that she was “relieved” for “all those who were targeted and impacted” by the operation.
“As we move forward, it is essential that we come together—not as separate groups divided by recent events, but as one Charlotte community,” the mayor’s statement read. “Our strength has always come from our ability to support one another, especially in challenging times.
