APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Two of the adults charged with child neglect in the treatment of a 14-year-old girl appeared in Outagamie County court Thursday morning.
As we’ve reported, officials say the teen weighed just 35 pounds when she was taken from her father’s home in August after he called 911 saying his daughter was seriously ill.
He said the girl didn’t eat because of her autism, but the criminal complaint says she was able to eat normally and gain weight while she was in the hospital.
In court Thursday, the victim’s stepmother, Melissa Goodman, had her hearing rescheduled for December to allow time for appointing her counsel. She’s charged with five felony counts of chronic neglect of a child.
