INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been convicted for his role in a 2022 shooting on the city's near west side.
James Thompson Jr. was found guilty of felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a handgun following a two-day jury trial.
Court documents say on Nov. 24, 2022, IMPD officers were called to North Sheffield Avenue on a report of a person shot. When officers were arriving on scene, they were advised a shooting victim had arrived at a local hospital and that the suspect was in a home across the street and was still inside.
Officers then established a perimeter around the home and gave verbal commands for occupants to come outside. Eventually, Thompson exited the home and surrendered to police.
