ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Police executed a search warrant at the home of a University at Buffalo student after he allegedly threatened to “shoot up the school,” prompting an investigation.
Two students studying in Baldy Hall on Wednesday told officers they overheard a man, later identified as Jacob Cassidy of Orchard Park, discussing plans to carry out a shooting and claiming he had an assault rifle with an extended magazine in his backpack, according to documents filed Thursday in State Supreme Court in Erie County.
Reached by phone Thursday, Cassidy declined to comment, but a UB spokesperson said in an email, "UB Police want to reassure the university community there is no ongoing threat to students, faculty or staff at this time."
