CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Olympic gold medalist and Chesapeake native Michael Cherry is blending creativity with community outreach as the new owner of Painting with a Twist.

Cherry, who earned his Olympic medal in track and field, said he grew up with a passion for artistic expression and saw an opportunity to combine that with his business background by purchasing the studio.

“Painting and running might not seem like they’re in the same world, but I’ve always been creative,” Cherry said. “I love to paint, draw, entertain people, and see people be entertained. It was a match made in heaven.”
