OAKRIDGE, Ore. - The body of an Oakridge man reported missing in October was found by rescuers in the Salmon Creek area on Wednesday, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Lane County Sheriff's Search & Rescue (SAR) located the body of 76-year-old Jean Fritz Pierre Louis on Nov. 19 at the bottom of a steep drainage. According to Lane County Sheriff's Search and Rescue officials, more than 1,000 hours were dedicated to the search which began intensively on Oct. 16. Louis' vehicle was found early in the search, prompting efforts that included foot and horseback searches, drones, K9 units, and high-angle rope teams. Linn County SAR and Eugene Mountain Rescue, under Lane County Sheriff's SAR, assisted in the search and recovery.
