Just four votes short, a proposal to place 0 West Falmouth Highway under a permanent conservation restriction failed Monday night at Town Meeting, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed to transfer the property to the Falmouth Conservation Commission.

Petition Article 18 was the final item before Town Meeting. It sought to move two town-owned West Falmouth Highway parcels into the care, custody and control of the conservation commission.

Those parcels were among four sites that the November 2024 Town Meeting voted to dispose of for potential affordable housing development. Since that vote, the town manager has issued a request for proposals for the West Falmouth Highway properties.
