PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Chicago-area man accused of shooting a woman inside a Bradley University dorm last month pleaded not guilty on Thursday to multiple charges.

Edward Traywick Jr., 19, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm in mid-October.

On Oct. 19, Peoria Police said Traywick was inside a Bradley residence hall visiting a friend when he shot a woman in the abdomen. The woman was not a Bradley student, and is expected to recover.

Police said he was also carrying 42 rounds of ammunition at the time of the shooting.

Traywick argued the shooting was an accident, and because of his clean record, he was released at his detention hearing.

He will return to court on Feb. 2.
