SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Fraud and scams continue to be top of mind as the holiday shopping season is right around the corner, and experts are providing the public with ways you can stay safe when making purchases.
Though it isn’t what it once was, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday are right around the corner.
This holiday shopping season, the National Retail Federation expects Americans to spend over $1 trillion for the first time ever . It takes just a little more effort to make sure your dollars go to gifts and not fraudsters.
As the way we shop has evolved, so have scammers’ tactics to take your money.
“We’ve become almost a cashless society. We use our cards for virtually anything,” said Jessie Schmidt, BBB South Dakota region vice president.
