Commission approves extra funding for fire, police departments

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Fire and police departments across Kanawha County will be getting some extra funding.

On Thursday night, Kanawha County commissioners approved $630,000 for 32 different departments. The money is coming from the general fund and the coal severance fund.

In addition, other fire and police departments in the county are receiving money from public safety grants.

Several of the police departments are planning to use the money to buy new equipment.
