SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Springfield schools will implement changes to the 2025-26 school calendar due to state law requirements.

State law outlining when classes can start will push the first day of class to Aug. 25, one week later than this year’s start date. The later start will move the final day of the school year to May 27, 2027.

The current school year ends May 22, 2025.

The district will also shorten Thanksgiving break next year. This year’s Thanksgiving break lasts one week, but students will only be out Wednesday through Friday of the holiday week next year.
