SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A yearly holiday tradition will not take place this year in Springfield.
The Candy Cane Lane drive-through light display at Rutledge Wilson Farm Park has operated for 13 years, but the display will not go up this year. Springfield-Greene County Park Board leaders blame rising staffing and supply costs for the cancellation. Officials said the display takes several weeks to set up and is easily impacted by weather conditions.
Park leaders encourage families to participate in other local holiday events, such as Gardens Aglow at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. The Gardens Aglow event offers more weekday availability, while Candy Cane Lane only operated on weekends. Gardens Aglow features a walking trail instead of a drive-through experience.
