VANCOUVER, Wash. — From telescopes and GoPro cameras to bocce ball sets and sewing machines, the Library of Things launched Monday at Fort Vancouver Public Libraries.

"It's really about lifelong learning," said Jennifer Giltrop, FVRL's executive director. "Allowing the community to try things, explore."

Giltrop credited public input and a $15,000 investment by the FVRL Foundation for getting the collection off the ground. It currently includes 50 items with duplicates of each. All are cataloged online, and library card holders can reserve up to two items at a time.

Once reserved, the library will transport items from the FVRL Operations Center to the patron's branch of choice, where they can be picked up.
