A former school teacher facing 93 charges of sexually abusing dozens of boys plans to fight moves to bring him to Scotland to face justice.
Iain Wares , 86, has been accused of molesting and assaulting his former pupils at Edinburgh Academy between 1968 and 1979 before fleeing to his native South Africa.
Broadcaster Nicky Campbell, who suffered abuse at the same school, has been spearheading the campaign for Wares to be returned on offences for which he dubbed him “Jimmy Savile II”.
Wares stood in the dock at Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court, near Cape Town, yesterday as his lawyer Ben Matthewson confirmed plans to fight the extradition bid.
