Halloween is the socially acceptable time to pretend to be someone else.
But that doesn’t make impersonating a homeowner legal.
It all started with a call on Oct. 31.
John Rowan, a real estate agent and home buyer/flipper, fielded a call from a “motivated” seller.
“She said they had a house they were selling that needs a massive amount of work – so they wanted to sell it for cash,” Rowan said.
The Scottsdale real estate investor was not far from the home near McCormick Ranch, so he popped over and found it just as the caller described: vacant and in disrepair.
“Holes in the roof, 3 feet of trash inside,” Rowan described it.
But the price seemed low enough to make a decent flip, so Rowan called back.
