Arizona State trailed most of the way but came back to beat Hawaii 83-76 in a NCAA basketball game Thursday at Bankoh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Bryce Ford led ASU (4-1) with 20 points, and Anthony “Pig” Johnson had 13 of his 16 in the second half.
Isaac “Big Fish” Johnson led Hawaii (4-2) with 23 points.
Aaron Hunkin-Claytor scored 10 of his 18 points in the first half and UH’s Johnson had nine as Hawaii took a 35-34 lead into the break
Arizona State never led until a 3-pointer by Noah Meeusen gave the Sun Devils a 34-33 edge with 53 seconds left before the break.
Then Isaac Finlinson hit both ends of a 1-and-1 for UH’s halftime lead.
The Rainbows dominated the paint in the first half with 22 points from close range compared to 10 for ASU.
