NEW BEDFORD – Seastreak Ferries and Cuttyhunk Ferry officials are confident they’ll be able to continue shipping out from New Bedford State Pier despite a shutdown for repairs.
MassDevelopment announced on Oct. 27 that State Pier’s south wharf and most of the east wharf would be closing within weeks , displacing virtually all water-dependent businesses. Repairs could take up to four years.
MassDevelopment officials, however, said they were working on short-term options with Seastreak and Cuttyhunk to maintain operations. MassDevelopment is the state’s development finance agency and land bank.
Cuttyhunk is now operating on its winter season schedule of twice-weekly trips out to Cuttyhunk Island.
