The Scottish Government has launched a life sciences strategy in a bid to push the industry's value to £25 billion in the next decade.

Business minister Richard Lochhead announced "targeted" investment in the sector on Thursday which the Government has said will focus on economic growth, innovation and transform care.

The document draws on what the minister described as the "power of the triple helix" of industry, academia and the public sector.

Speaking before the launch, the minister said: "In the past five years, the life sciences sector has shaped our response to a global pandemic, responded to new opportunities in personalised medicine, health technology and medical devices, and played its part in meeting the Scottish Government's net zero commitments.
