A sushi spot in South San Jose has temporarily shut down after health inspectors made an unwelcome discovery: cockroaches.
The Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health shut down Kenzo Sushi on Wednesday because of a cockroach infestation.
The county’s inspection of the restaurant found live cockroaches at the prep counter, on the floor across from the grill and on the floor by the sushi area.
Owner Jamie Cho said she was surprised the restaurant failed its inspection because she pays for monthly visits from a pest control service.
Crews at the restaurant are already making changes, including filling even the smallest of holes in the wall, installing a new prep station for sushi and doing a deep clean.
