PHOENIX — A registered sex offender with a long record of probation violations is accused of sneaking onto the campus of Orangewood Elementary School and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in an empty classroom , according to police and newly reviewed court documents.
The school district, on Nov. 21, confirmed the suspect is a former student, saying in a news release that Abel Gblah attended the school from 2012 to 2015.
Investigators said the assault happened on Wednesday after a student was buzzed in through the school’s main entrance. Police said 25-year-old Abel Gblah walked in behind the child. When he made it onto the campus, he then claimed he was a doctor and then took a 10-year-old girl into a vacant classroom where he sexually assaulted her, police said.
