FORT WORTH, Texas — A former Phoenix news anchor was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison after she was found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, court records show.
Stephanie Hockridge, who worked for years as a news anchor for ABC15, was sentenced in a federal case in Texas involving a company Hockridge and her husband had operated.
Prosecutors accused the couple of defrauding the government's Paycheck Protection Program, which was created to assist businesses during the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The indictment against Hockridge and her husband accused them of conspiring with others to submit PPP applications they allegedly knew contained false information.
