Jacoby Shaddix feigns surprise when reminded that Papa Roach’s most successful record is now 25 years old.

Infest is the California-born act’s major-label debut and breakthrough sophomore album that offered pummelling anthems about troubled youth, such as Last Resort and Broken Home. The songs may seem to forever live in the land of angsty youth, but they have been around for a quarter of a century.

“Gosh,” says Shaddix, on the line with Postmedia from his home in California. “Slow down, buddy!”
