Sonia Exelby's body was discovered in a shallow grave just a week after she arrived in the United States on October 10.
The alert was raised when the 32-year-old from Portsmouth, Hampshire, failed to board her return flight home three days later.
However, it has since emerged that what appeared to be a tragic murder was far from straightforward and had roots as far back as 2023.
