KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department arrested a man for attempted murder after a stabbing in Kalihi.

It happened just before 2:30 p.m., on Thursday in front of the Punawai Rest Stop on Kuwili Street.

Officials said a 53-year-old man suffered stab wounds and was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Police say a witness followed the 38-year-old suspect as he fled the scene, and officers quickly detained him.

HPD said the suspect was arrested for attempted murder in the second degree.
