An investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of the Fentress County Sheriff and a former detective.

Back in April, the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference requested TBI special agents to investigate allegations of misconduct involving Sheriff Michael "Bigfoot" Reagon, 58, and Detective Jerry Mifflin, 54.

Agents found out that in December of 2024, Sheriff Reagon ordered Detective Mifflin to fraudulently complete mandatory in-service training courses on his behalf.

Completion of those courses keeps him in compliance with the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission. It also makes Sheriff Reagon eligible for a salary bonus.
