ALTON, Mo. (KY3) - Just north of Alton sits an old country church that’s been resurrected into a restaurant.

“It’s just a cool old building,” Brian Staack, the owner of Bootleggers Mercantile and BBQ, said.

Brian and Jessica Staack owned Bootleggers BBQ restaurant in West Plains. They won best BBQ in Missouri four times, but three years ago, they walked away.

And it was a little, old former Church of Christ that was sitting across from their property that just kept staring at them.

“We drove past it for the last 14 years, driving home from the restaurant every day,” Brian said.
