COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Christmas tree permits for the upcoming holiday season are now available across the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, says the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).
Idahoans can visit Recreation.gov to purchase a $5 permit, find designated cutting areas, dates for cutting, and information on the types of trees that may be cut.
USFS reminds people that it is important to carefully read the overview and need-to-know information before purchasing the permit. People must also create a Recreation.gov account to complete the transaction online.
Permits are also available for purchase over the counter during regular business hours at most local offices. USFS recommends calling ahead before visiting the office to ensure permits are available.
