WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WFSB) - TSA is considering charging travelers $18 if they arrive at airport security without a Real ID or passport.

The government agency announced the potential new identity verification program on Friday, saying the fee would help fund the service for passengers who don’t have proper identification.

Travelers at Bradley International Airport had mixed reactions to the proposal.

“It’s just an added expense that we really don’t need,” said Katie Brainard, a traveler.

Others were more accepting of the potential charge.

“18 bucks, I would pay it to go on a flight,” said Katelynn Trainor, another traveler.

The push for everyone to get a Real ID started before COVID-19.
