Throughout America’s history, many brave citizens who answer the call of duty and serve their country remain unknown and unrecognized, despite their heroism, courage, and sacrifice. One of them is Lieutenant Colonel Frances C. Henchey.
She died in 1979 at 85, leaving behind her extensive collection of eighty-one military patches from both World Wars, multiple branches of the US military, and over a dozen different infantry units from across the country. In 1981, a relative of Henchey’s donated them to the Bennington Museum.
