CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The prosecution rested its case Friday morning in the trial of Terry Connor Jr. and Steven Staples, the two men accused of robbing and killing Brooks’ Sandwich House co-owner Scott Brooks in 2019.
Brooks was robbed of $100 and shot three times in the early morning hours of Dec. 9, 2019, while trying to open up the NoDa restaurant.
Prosecutors spent the bulk of the trial connecting Connor and Staples to the murders of Asa Shannon and Siojvon Joseph that happened a month later on Atando Avenue, which they argued would establish a pattern. Staples and Connor’s brother, Everett Connor, with Shannon and Joseph’s murders.
The final witness for the prosecution was the medical examiner who performed internal and external examinations of Brooks, Shannon and Joseph.
