More than two years after fire significantly damaged the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant, the system is almost fully operational, an official says
The plant had been forecast to be up and running again in August, but rehabilitation delays meant temporary water treatment trailers were still needed up to this month.
“We are planning on running the whole water treatment plant the week of Dec. 1,” Darren Galbraith, Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission general manager, said at Thursday’s commission meeting. “That’s the goal.”
The outdoor water treatment trailers were to be shut down by Friday, he said.
Two valves bringing water from Leamington’s distribution system are being opened and four connections from the South Kent Water Treatment Plant, near Erie Beach, will remain open, he added
