After two years of deep general fund cuts that strained programs and staffing, the Loveland Public Library is heading into 2026 with an unexpected piece of good news. In January, the Carnegie Corporation of New York will award the library $10,000, a gift that links the institution to its 120-year-old roots as one of Colorado’s original Carnegie libraries.

“We’re so happy to share the good news,” said Library Director Amy Phillips. “It’s not everyday you open up your email and someone wants to give you $10,000.”

The award is part of the foundation’s Carnegie Libraries 250 initiative, a national effort recognizing the role of public libraries in civic life as the country prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
