Amanda Nelli started singing a new career tune when she heard a pre-schooler with a booming voice at a gig she thought she’d loathe.
The St. Basil Secondary graduate was planning a career in voice performance when she was a University of Ottawa student. She didn’t consider leading a children’s choir at a church in the nation’s capital a plum assignment.

Nelli took the unusual performance in stride.
“ He was singing. He was confident,” she told The Sault Star. “I was like, ‘I can work with this.’ Sometimes singing all the right notes and it being a super polished performance isn’t the most important thing.”
