HAVELOCK, N.C. (WITN) - A Beaufort woman has been charged after police asked the public for help in identifying her earlier in the week.

Havelock police charged Savannah Carter with obtaining property by false pretenses.

On Tuesday, officers released surveillance photos of a woman they say was involved in a fraud case at the Walmart in Havelock.

It happened last Friday, according to police.

Police say they were able to identify her, thanks to help from the public.

Warrants say the 27-year-old woman used counterfeit $20 bills to buy some $230 in items from the store.

Her bond was set at $3,000.
